Some individuals find that no matter how much they exercise or diet, they cannot get rid of the fat underneath the chin and neck. In young individuals, we have found that liposuction can safely and effectively eliminate these reservoirs of fat. The procedure is performed in the office with sedation or general anesthesia. Slight bruising and swelling of the area should be anticipated, which can last for a week or longer.

In more mature patients, liposuction, along with a modified neck lift or chin implant, can restore the healthy and youthful look without the need for more extensive face lift surgery. All patients are evaluated prior to surgery and computer-assisted digital imaging is used to simulate after-surgical results.

What is Liposuction?

Facial Liposuction is the procedure of selectively removing localized fat deposits through a tiny incision, usually less than one-eighth inch, to improve the overal apperance of the face and neck.

What areas can be recontoured?

Liposuction can smooth or contour almost any area of the body, and is equally successful in men and women. The most common areas are beneath the chin, the jowls, cheeks, neck and smile lines can also be recontoured.

What about scarring?

Because only a tiny incision is required for the insertion of the tube, our method of facial and body recontouring leaves only minute scars which are hidden in natural body folds - such as the front of an earlobe - so they are not normally visible. This is a major advantage over the older methods of fat removal surgery.

Why Liposuction?

For years operations to remove excess fat and skin have been around. But such procedures, such as the tummy tuck, involve extensive surgery and often leave ugly scars. Today, however, many people are enjoying the benefits of liposuction, for body and facial contouring. Developed by French physicians, this revolutionary method of fat removal involves only minimal surgery and is faster, safer and more effective than other methods of fat removal.

What about Fat Transfer?

Your fat cells can be re-injected safely under the skin, to parts of your body that need "pumping up" such as lips or chin. Since your own body fat is used, there is no chance of allergy or rejection.

Is the procedure done in the hospital?

No. Your liposuction will be performed right here in our fully equipped, office-based surgical suite. Following surgery, you can go home to recover in comfort.

Are there any risks?

Current world experience indicates that when properly performed on good candidates, there are no long-term dangers. Patients may experience temporary numbness or swelling in the treated areas.

Does it hurt?

During the procedure patients feel no pain because they are lightly sedated and have had a local anesthetic. The discomfort during the postoperative periods is normally minimal and pain medications are usually not necessary.

When can I return to work?

Recovery times vary among patients. But, usually, you can go back to work and normal activity in two days to one week depending on you particular surgery and the demands made on you at work.

Is the result permanent?

Yes! The fat cells, once removed, will not come back and if your diet remains the same, the benefit of liposuction will remain with you.
