Post Operative Care for Sinus Communications Do not blow nose for a minimum of seven days postoperatively. Do not smole, use straws or suck vigorously for four days. Rinse surgical areas gently after meals beginning the first day following after surgery. Do not brush involved areas. Avoid high altitudes or riding in airplanes for one week. Take prescribed medications until prescription is completed.
