Rejuvenating Peels After Care Instructions
- Eat a light meal before arriving for your surgery. Avoid heavey or spicy foods. Limit your fluid to 1 glass the morning of surgery if you are being sedated.
Elevate your head at all times
- If you are being sedated, you need to have someone drive you home. If you are not being sedated, you can drive yourself home.
- After your peel your face may swell for approximately 2 to 3 days.To prevent this, you should sleep with your head elevated (use 2 or 3 pillows). If you notice swelling apply ice packs, frozen peas or wet washclothes chich have been frozen in ziplic bags.
- Wash your face gently with your fingertips (no wash cloth) twice daily with the recommended soap and pat dry with a soft clean towel. Do not rub. You will not be able to wash off all of your moisturizer, so do not try. Wash very gently.
- Keep a thin coat of recommended moisturizer on the treated parts your face and body. Do not use anything that we do not recommend.
- Take medications as prescribed.
- Wash your hair with baby shampoo.
- As you are peeling, you may get a few sore spots or thick scabs or red spots (places that peel a little deeper). Use the recommended cream on these areas twice a day. Do not pick at loose skin, as this can cause scarring.
- After you have peeled you may use Doctors recommended cream for moisturizing lotion.
- Apply skin lightener every other night starting 1 to 2 weeks after your peel. Ask Doctor when to start this. Do not put skin lightener on areas which have not completely peeled.
- Apply sunscreen every day starting 2 weeks after your peel. Ask Doctor when to start this. Do not put sunscreen on areas which have not completely peeled.
- You must avoid the sun for a period of 4 weeks after your peel. Be sure to wear a wide-brim hat, sunscreen, and cotton gloves whenever you are outside and when driving.
- Protect the backs of your hands with cotton gloves (cut fingertips off if you want) for up to 2 weeks after the day of your hand peel. You cna also use cotton socks (cut the foot off and make a thumb hole). Ask for "garden gloves", usually available at Target, Wal Mart, Longs or Thrifty. Wear cotton gloves with fingers intact to bed at night to prevent scratching yourself accidentally.
